To all of you who hunger and thirst for the word of God and fellowship with fellow Christians.
I heartily welcome you to ELCSA Thohoyandou congregation, a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Southern Africa(ELCSA).
I also welcome your positive contribution to make this congregation as welcoming as Christ would like it to be.
Administration
We have just completed a new Finance Policy and it has been adopted by the Congregational Council and will be made available to congregants as per request. The 2015 Preaching plan and year plan will be available by the 2nd week of February. We shall hold our annual AGM by the end of February.
New Website for communication
We have also launched this website to communicate better with you and provide news to you as they come and not have to wait for Sunday.
Financial Growth
We would like to thank you very much for providing us with a lot of growth financially. The income we’ve had on our collections, tithing, pledges, 1st fruits offering and other contributions have made it possible for us to meet all our expectations in the day to day running of our congregation as well as enabling us to pay our dues on our MFS contributions to the circuit through the parish. We thank the finance committee as well as the stewardship committee for their dedication in motivating us to contribute.
Church buildings
We are currently organizing ourselves into rebuilding our church premises. We have just finished with the renovations of our parsonage which is located in Thohoyandou P West. We thank the building committee for its hard work and dedication
Lent Season Services
We have a series of Lent season services (Ash Wednesday, every Wednesday after the Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. We shall also have a Vigil of Easter on Saturday following Good Friday as per our Almanac followed by Easter celebration.
Liturgy
Our Faith and Order committee will guide us as always by conducting workshops on Sundays and Saturdays which align us with the ELCSA church order. We thank this committee for all the dedication.
Diaconate, Partnership and Evangelization
We thank these committees for a wonderful work they have done in uplifting our partners at Nkavele preaching place.
Health issues
Our Health and welfare committee will continue with the awareness workshops in relation to health issues
Bursary Committee
We thank our bursary committee for work – shopping our grade 12 and tertiary students on how to apply for bursaries as well as providing them with application forms for various bursary providers
Church Choir
The choir was established in 1987 with not more than 25 members. Today it has no less than 80 members. The establishment of the choir has helped a lot in improving the experience in the service. The choir takes the lead in singing and also renders items in the services. The choir is also part of the liturgy team in order to help direct the flow of the church service. The choir practices on Friday and Saturday at 18h00 every week. Those who are interested in joining the choir are still welcome. We thank the ELCSAMO committee for all their efforts.
Wards
We have 8 wards in our congregation. P1, P2, P3, P west, Golgotha, F1, F2 and G. These wards conduct prayer services on Mondays and Saturdays to enable spiritual growth. The ward system makes the day to day running of the congregation a lot easier. We thank the ward committees for all they do.
